Helping with Heart recipient – Jessie Reynolds

Another recipient of the Helping with Heart funds is Jessie Reynolds, who was diagnosed with leukemia just before her second birthday. Jessie is a young cancer patient at Primary Children's Medical Center. She went through chemotherapy treatments between September 2010 and April 2011.
As part of the ongoing charitable efforts of Henry Walker Homes, the group Helping with Heart was established earlier this year.
Instead of exclusively donating all its funds to a single organization or just one cause per year, Henry Walker Homes provides the means for employees to do good deeds in their spheres of influence. Each employee is given funds that they can use to help someone that they know in need. These funds could possibly go towards a cause like fighting cancer, but it could also include the small cries for help like fixing a neighbors broken fence or providing a ramp for a family who just had a member become confined to a wheelchair.

The first recipient of the Helping with Heart funds is the Monsen family. They are family members of a Henry Walker employee whose house burned down earlier this year. While all 5 of the family members got out in time, the family lost everything they owned in the fire. They are going through the insurance claim process and eventually things may get back to normal, but Helping with Heart was thrilled to provide them with basic necessities like clothes, food, toothbrushes, kids toys, etc. during the transition period.
